Analysis of China's Sulfuric Acid Consumption in 2023

In 2023, China's actual domestic downstream consumption of sulfuric acid is expected to be 91.82 million tons, up 1.44 percent from last year. Mainly affected by the rise in chemical acid. Among them, acid for chemical fertilizer was 46 million tons, down 1.6 percent from the same period last year, accounting for 50.1 percent; industrial acid consumption was 45.82 million tons, up 2.5 percent from the same period last year, accounting for 49.9 percent, basically the same as acid for chemical fertilizer.

In the downstream demand of sulfuric acid in 2023, the change of the main consumption direction is not obvious, and the consumption pattern is still dominated by phosphate compound fertilizer. Among them, the top three products in consumption are monoammonium phosphate accounting for 20%, diammonium phosphate accounting for 17%, and titanium dioxide accounting for 12%. The downstream popular product iron phosphate, with the release of production capacity, in 2023 sulfuric acid consumption ratio increased to about 2%.
