From May 28 to 29, 2024, at the 2024 annual meeting of sulfuric acid industry and the fifth Council of the eighth session of China Sulfuric Acid Industry Association held in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, Li Chong, Secretary General of China Sulfuric Acid Industry Association, stressed that enterprises should deeply study the future development trend, continue to carry out supply side structural reform, and strive to overcome the mismatch of time and market under the background of increasing new production capacity and demand, Continuously improve the balance of sulfuric acid market, promote the sustainable and healthy development of the industry.
Li Chong said that the whole industry should actively respond to various risks and challenges, continuously develop new quality productivity, deepen supply-side structural reform, and continuously improve the balance between supply and demand. First of all, it is necessary to gradually eliminate backward production capacity with single products, no downstream supporting facilities, high energy consumption, insufficient steam utilization, and low environmental protection level. It is necessary to focus on the development of high-purity, high-value-added sulfuric acid products and derivatives, through dynamic adjustment, to form a high-purity, differentiated, multi-category product structure to meet the needs of high-quality development of downstream industries.
Secondly, under the background of double increase in production capacity and demand, we should strive to overcome the mismatch of time and market, continuously optimize the balance of market supply and demand, improve the downstream supporting facilities, actively eliminate sulfuric acid and by-product steam, and enhance the market competitiveness and anti risk ability of enterprises.
Li Chong stressed that the association will always adhere to the concept of service for survival and service for development. It will make efforts from four aspects to serve the healthy development of the industry and the needs of enterprise transformation and upgrading, and guide the green and low-carbon development of the sulfuric acid industry.
First, we should continue to strengthen the monitoring and guidance of economic operation, smooth the interaction and feedback between associations and enterprises, and give full play to the role of expert groups, build a platform for scientific and technological innovation in the industry, and help develop new quality productivity.
Second, we should continue to strengthen the revision of standards, and continue to make efforts in the formulation of standards such as industry carbon emission accounting methods and carbon footprint. For the development of the industry urgently needed waste acid comprehensive utilization products, safety design specifications, water intake quota and other key standards, but also to take the initiative to strive for national standards and line standards as soon as possible project.
Third, we should give full play to the guiding role of the special committee on the resource utilization of sulfur-containing waste, and gradually improve the comprehensive utilization rate of sulfur-containing waste and the added value of comprehensive utilization products.
The fourth is to lead China's sulfuric acid equipment out of the country. The Sulfuric Acid Association will strengthen exchanges and communication with relevant associations and enterprises in countries and regions such as Africa, South America and Russia, and bring more outstanding Chinese manufacturing enterprises and a full set of sulfuric acid equipment abroad to serve global owners.
