Sulfur Imports in China from January to May 2024

According to Chinese customs statistics, China imported 4.209 million tons of sulfur from January to May 2024, an increase of 762000 tons or 22.1 percent over the same period last year, and the average import price was 102.9 US dollars per ton, down 49.9 US dollars per ton or 32.7 percent from the same period last year.

In May, 771000 tons of sulfur were imported, up 2.2 per cent year-on-year and 25.9 per cent month-on-month, while the average import price was US $106.0 per ton, down 22.5 per cent year-on-year and up 6.7 per cent month-on-month.

From January to May 2024, my country's imported sulfur mainly came from the Middle East, North America, Japan and South Korea. The top five countries were the UAE (746000 tons), Canada (664000 tons), Saudi Arabia (625000 tons), South Korea (480000 tons), Qatar (431000 tons), and sulfur imports from these five countries accounted for 70.0 of the total imports. According to the statistics of provinces (places of enterprise registration), the top three provinces of import are Yunnan (822000 tons), Guizhou (703000 tons) and Shanghai (646000 tons).
