China exports 1.6416 million tons of titanium dioxide in 2023, up 16.74 percent year-on-year

In recent years, with the growth of China's titanium dioxide production capacity, production is also a simultaneous increase, 2023 domestic titanium dioxide production capacity exceeded 5 million tons/year, the future of domestic production capacity is still new plans. However, the downstream real estate and other industries are sluggish, and the increase in terminal demand is limited, which has not kept up with the growth rate of production. This has further exacerbated the overcapacity situation in the domestic titanium dioxide industry, and has to continue to increase export orders. According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China's titanium dioxide exports totaled 1.6416 million tons in 2023, an increase of 16.74 percent over last year. The domestic titanium dioxide industry continues to be in a state of imbalance between supply and demand, and with the continuous expansion of production capacity in recent years, the situation of oversupply has further intensified, so exports have become an important direction to transfer the contradiction between supply and demand of domestic titanium dioxide.
